Our Award

At reStart's recent volunteer appreciation banquet, Affinis was given the Helen Gordon Volunteer Service Award. Pictured with Evie Craig, Executive Director of reStart (center) are Affinis co-workers Andrea Scott, Marketing Coordinator (left) and Kristi Giles, Bookeeper (right). Our activities for reStart this year include painting, setting up futons (don't ask how that went!), cleaning up the donation room, and collecting various items throughout the year. One co-worker collected toiletries for her birthday in lieu of gifts. Affinis also donates a portion of its profit to reStart each year.

About reStart

reStart Inc. , an interfaith ministry with homeless persons, is

committed to providing shelter and supportive services to homeless men, women, youth and families with the goal of helping persons move toward independence and self-sufficiency. reStart's mission is not a quick fix for its clients. This goal of self-sufficiency fits Affinis' mission of building long-lasting relationships.

reStart Inc. is the outgrowth of an overnight emergency shelter established in 1983 by an interfaith group at Grand Avenue Temple United Methodist Church in downtown Kansas City. A non-profit corporation for the purpose of serving homeless persons was created in 1984. reStart has been providing on average 80,000 bed nights of emergency and transitional shelter to approximately 2,000 homeless guests (men, women, and families) annually since 1991.
