Affinis Completes Another ARRA Project

Working with Musselman & Hall Contractors, LLC and The Missouri Department of Transportation Affinis recently completed an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) project for the Clay County area. Work included enhancements along Route 1 between Vivion Road and 72nd Street in Gladstone and Kansas City, MO.

Improvements included the addition of new sidewalks and pedestrian accommodations at intersections to improve safety, increase mobility, and provide better access for pedestrians in the area. Existing pedestrian facilities were reconstructed to meet or exceed Americans with Disabilities Act requirements wherever possible.

Affinis designed the project in a compressed timeframe, ensuring the project would be constructed within ARRA scheduling requirements. Key to making the ARRA construction deadline was the development of a design that addressed the need to avoid right-of-way and easement takings.

MoDOT, state, county, and city officials celebrated project completion in December with a ribbon cutting ceremony held in Gladstone. Representing Affinis at the celebration were Linda Rottinghaus, Mike Wachs, Harvey Heidbreder, Kristen Leathers, and Tim McEldowney.
