Affinis Corp. Honored as One of the Country’s
‘Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For’

 

Overland Park, Kan.–based Affinis Corp. recently was named a “Best Civil Engineering Firm to Work For” by CE News, a widely read national industry publication. Affinis is the only locally based consulting engineering firm to be awarded the designation – and one of just a few firms with offices in the metro.  Affinis’ scores exceeded the overall benchmarks on many counts.

The 35-person civil engineering firm, which has offices in Lee’s Summit and Overland Park, is focused on building long-lasting relationships with co-workers, clients and colleagues.

“I’m thrilled CE News selected us,” Affinis President Rick Worrel, P.E., said. “I’m even happier that our team likes working here. It really shows in their performance, too – our employees work together efficiently and effectively. Our clients consistently give our team high marks.”

CE News, a trade publication with a circulation of 50,000, honored Affinis based on anonymous input from the company’s staff; employees submitted responses to the magazine’s Employee Satisfaction Survey. The survey questions covered a variety of topics and Affinis employee answers were compared to a benchmark number (the average response of the whole contestant pool of almost 19,000 people). Those numbers were then used to generate a ranking of all the firms. Affinis was ranked No. 40 of the Top 50 firms nationwide, and No. 16 of the Top 20 small firms in the country.

The survey covered topics that included quality of work provided to clients, company leadership and responsiveness, workplace fairness, family atmosphere, company adherence to its mission statement, quality of software and hardware provided, quality of benefits, and career growth, including opportunities to move up in the company.

“We work very hard to make Affinis a great place to work,” said John Thomas, P.E., vice president. “We strive for everyone to have a voice in how the company is run.”
