MoDOT Interchange Improvements,
I-435 & Route 350 Interchange

Client: Missouri Department of Transportation - District 4

A Major Investment Study for I-435 on the east side of Kansas City, Missouri, identified this interchange as a bottleneck. The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) chose our firm to design improvements to the I-435 and Route 350 Interchange. The project adds through lanes and auxiliary lanes to I-435, rehabilitates existing I-435 pavement, replaces three Route 350 bridges, and replaces one and rehabilitates five other bridges.

SIGNIFICANT DESIGN ITEMS:

• Provided through-lane continuity on I-435
• Increasing capacity of I-435 at the interchange
• Resolving weaving deficiencies between Route 350 and Eastwood Trafficway
• Providing lane continuity along Route 350

COMPLETION DATE: 2004

COST: $30 MILLION
