I-435 Kansas City SCOUT Expansion

Affinis Corp. is assisting Black & Veatch Special Projects, Inc. with the design of the I-435 KCSCOUT expansion from Bannister Road to Route 210. Affinis is responsible for field locating ITS equipment and signs using bucket trucks and visual inspection. Affinis is also responsible for quality control and preparation of the job special provision for the entire project.

Once potential field locations were identified, Affinis surveyors will complete a topographic survey along the corridor along with a more detailed survey at each of the proposed ITS equipment location. Affinis traffic engineers will develop traffic control plans for each of the four Dynamic Message Sign (DMS) locations, the twelve camera locations, and ten video detection locations.

SIGNIFICANT DESIGN ITEMS:

  • Field design using bucket truck and field inspection
  • Survey at 16 locations
  • Traffic control plans
  • Coordination with MoDOT
  • Fiber optic cable routing and field check

COMPLETION DATE: 2007

COST: $1.7 MILLION
