Independence and Van Brunt Intersection Improvements

Affinis was selected to design this project to improve intersection geometry and modify signal equipment at this intersection. Independence Avenue and Van Brunt Boulevard is an intersection with high accident history. Northbound Van Brunt is offset across the intersection due to a wide median on the south leg. The non-standard intersection geometry has contributed to the accident history. The project will improve intersection safety by re-aligning the south leg of Van Brunt. Left-turn lanes will be added to Independence Avenue to improve traffic flow. The project is partially funded through the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and MoDOT administration procedures will be followed.
